At the conclusion of this activity the learner should be able to:
- Identify the necessary capital equipment for initial clinic set-up, plan the associated budget, and create a reasonable timeline for purchase.
- Create a formulary for their necessary disposables, medications, and durable medical equipment (DME) as well as any other ancillary supplies.
- Differentiate between CLIA-waived and CLIA-Moderate laboratory tests and determine the appropriate level of testing needed for your INITIAL operations.
- Develop a budget for all FF&E necessary for the start-up of your facility and evaluate the "pros/cons" of new vs used equipment as well as lease vs purchasing as it applies to the budget.
- Compare and contrast the available radiology technologies - equipment in preparation for budgeting and selection of equipment that will be cost-effective and meet your future service needs.

Align purchases with the services being offered, and determine the ROI of common devices and equipment.
Faculty Bio:
Patrice Pash is DocuTap's new Director of Consulting Services. As the leading provider provider of integrated electrpnic medical records (EMR) and practice management technology for urgent care, she assists with the development or expansion of urgent care services, bringing the experience of over 150 successful start-ups to her clients. Prior to joining DocuTap, Pash worked for nearly two decades on similar urgent care consulting engagements throughout the United States and abroad for other industry notable EMR groups. She has collaborated with physicians, non-physicians, health systems and investor groups of varying sizes, consulting on a wide variety of urgent care start-up topics including site selection and feasibility, operations, compliance, and planning. Her operational knowledge was gained from first-hand urgent care experience working with Physicians Immediate Care. During her employment as Assistant Director of Clinical Services, she was instrumental in the numerous start-up and expansion projects during the organization’s growth. Additionally, she provided the oversight for the multi-clinic inventory management, as well as directed the vendor negotiations. Working with the staff, she also assisted with training and compliance, helping to develop PIC’s first clinical staff training manual. Her medical background includes clinical nursing, with experience in emergency medicine and cardiology. She is a former nationally registered Paramedic/ Firefighter and former rescue diver. She has also been instructor for the American Heart Association in CPR/AED, ACLS, BTLS, as well as an adjunct instructor for the local EMS program. She also has a wealth of experience in occupational medicine. Married to her husband, David for twenty years this summer, they have two sons. Patrice is an avid Steelers fan and with her family, enjoys a variety of sports and outdoor activities.
