- Determine necessary intervention and treatment or lack thereof for uncommon pediatric dermatologic conditions.
- Recognize steroid-responsive dermatologic conditions in pediatric patients and when steroid use in children is not appropriate.

Course Description:This case-based lecture will cover common pediatric rashes and highlight their similarities, but also the clues for differentiation of rashes based on history, rash characteristics and patient assessment. This lecture will also highlight more unusual pediatric dermatologic conditions and features that should cause concern on the part of the clinician.
Speaker: Dr. Kara Starnes is the Assistant Medical Director of Urgent Care Services for Cook Children's Urgent Cares in Fort Worth, Texas. Cook Children's Urgent Care has 5 locations throughout the Fort Worth area with plans for expansion later this year. She has worked in Pediatric Urgent Care and the Pediatric Emergency Department over the last 8 years. Prior to her work with Cook Children's, she was a General Pediatrician in Private Practice. Dr. Starnes is board certified in General Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
