Course Description:The best care of a female patient with gynecological complaints involves a systematic approach. Dr Oscar Almeida who, prior to becoming an urgent care physician during Hurricane Katrina, spent a career as a gynecologist, will lead this course. Learn the most useful gynecologic diagnostic and treatment tools for the urgent care clinician, including how to respond to requests for the newest medication to treat female hypoactive sexual desire disorder.
Speaker: Oscar D. Almeida, Jr., MD, FACOG, FACS is a full-time Urgent Care physician with Stopwatch Urgent Care in Auburn, Alabama. After graduating from California State University at Long Beach, California with a BS in Zoology, he received his medical doctorate from the University Of South Alabama College Of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. He completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University Of South Alabama Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and numerous Ob-Gyn and Surgical Societies, in addition to the Urgent Care Association of America. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed scientific papers, numerous book chapters, and has lectured throughout the United States and Central America. Dr. Almeida was in private Ob-Gyn practice for nearly 3 decades, also serving as an Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. Before transitioning permanently into Urgent Care in 2016, he worked for two and a half years in Urgent Care following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He and his wife have five children, and five grandchildren. They enjoy traveling and fine dining.
