Course Description:
Mild traumatic brain injury, also known as concussion, has become a very important issue in professional and school sports. Because of media reports of the prevalence of concussion and the potential long-term sequelae, there is a growing awareness and concern for making the diagnosis and managing concussion in the most timely and effective manner. There are also many non-sports-related head injuries that can potentially lead to concussion. Learn why urgent care, being on the front line of managing many head injuries, can be the ideal setting for making the diagnosis of concussion and potentially managing these patients to recovery with a successful return to school, work, or sports in a safe and organized fashion. This course will help urgent care operators decide if they should develop a concussion program, what services should they provide from the continuum of possible services, and how they would measure the success of their program.
