Course Description:The pendulum in the management of concussed individuals has shifted. While strict rest was once the gold standard, current research and the Berlin International Concussion Consensus Statement guidelines support a more active approach to recovery beginning as early as 24-48 hours post injury. This session will review this paradigm, including several components of a physical therapy examination and treatment techniques geared to address physiologic, visual, and vestibular deficits commonly seen post-concussion. This approach can be utilized to eliminate persistent concussion symptoms and restore independence sooner.
