Course Description:This presentation will review the benefits of having a neuropsychologist working in the urgent care setting. The military was one of the first clinical care settings to move mental health providers to "the front lines" to assess service members presenting with psychiatric symptoms. Learn how having a neuropsychologist in the urgent care setting can assist clinical staff.
Speaker: Anthony P. Doran, Psy.D.
Dr. Doran is consulting neuropsychologist for Righttime’s HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care. As a pediatric neuropsychologist, Dr. Doran assesses patients with head injuries at HeadFirst clinics. His assessment approach utilizes concussion management software technology and a developmental neuropsychological approach to head injury evaluation and management. Dr. Doran has over 20 years of experience in psychological assessment. He did his post-doctoral training in neuropsychology at Harvard Medical School and received a doctorate of psychology from the University of Hartford. Past research projects have been several studies evaluating severe stress in Special Forces personnel and studies monitoring DoD and Navy suicide prevention efforts. Dr. Doran has taught multiple psychology classes at the United States Naval Academy and John Hopkins University. Pending publications of research initiatives with the University of Pittsburgh evaluating mTBI in children 5-10 years of age and University of Maryland on the process of word retrieval. Dr. Doran and his wife Donna reside in Maryland and over the last 30 years the couple have enjoyed traveling around the world from Maine to Tokyo with their 3 children.
