Moderator: Patrice Pash, BSN RN – Director of Consulting Services, DocuTAP
Patrice Pash BSN RN is the Director of Consulting for DocuTAP, the leading provider of integrated electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management technology for urgent care. In this position, she has lead the delivery of consulting services to clients seeking to develop, expand, or optimize their urgent care business also ensuring client successes and satisfaction at startup by coordinating delivery specific to the customer's needs. Prior to joining DocuTAP, she successfully assisted over 150 urgent care clinics throughout the United States and abroad. Physicians, non-physicians, investors and health systems alike have all turned to her for valuable insights when it comes to starting an urgent care. Her experience both as a nurse with experience in both emergency medicine and cardiology as well as her vast first-hand knowledge in urgent care operations well affords her the ability to address not only the challenges facing her clients, but also understanding the medical landscape. Patrice and her husband of twenty-two years have two teenage sons that are heavily involved in a variety of sports. The family enjoys camping and fishing and she spends her free time gardening, canning, painting and is an avid reader and writer.
Panelist:Tammy Mallow, B.S. – Director, Contracting and Credentialing, DocuTAP
Tammy Mallow has a wide variety of experience in the Urgent Care World. She has practical experience as a Practice Administrator as well as national consulting experience. Ms. Mallow has lent her expertise in health plan contract negotiation and credentialing processes, urgent care business planning, and ongoing practice management for over 20 years. She previously held the position of Corporate Director and Consultant for the Schumacher Group where she worked specifically with community based models with a focus on Urgent Care. She also works periodically with Subsidium Consulting based in Atlanta, and with Merchant Medicine. Her current role, as the Director of Contracting and Credentialing for DocuTAP, Tammy is responsible for the negotiations of health plan contracts for many Urgent Care Centers nationwide. She has been instrumental in provider enrollment strategies and in offering advisory services for the development of startup urgent care. Her combined background of direct clinic experience and broad based consulting is incorporated in her lectures to bring a real life perspective to her audience. Tammy has worked with UCA for several years as a faculty member, a webinar presenter, serving on various committees, and as a general resource in the industry. She is a graduate of Missouri State University, is a publish author on Practice Management and Operations, and is an active member and leader with several industry associations.
Panelist: Jay Tolia, Owner – President, iClaim, Inc.
Mr. Jay Tolia has more than 25 years of experience in the medical billing industry. He has experience working on many facets of the billing industry, including developing an entire Practice Management Software System, incorporating EDI standards as well as data analyses for Revenue Cycle Management. Additionally, he has experience in billing and coding for many specialties such as Primary Care, Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Oculoplastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Pathology, Radiology, Cardiology, etc. As President of a successful medical billing business, Mr. Tolia has vast experience within many facets of the medical billing industry. From startups to well established practices, Mr. Tolia has helped many practices grow into successful enterprises.
Panelist: Brian A. Tamburro, MBA – Director of Operations, AdventHealth
Brian Tamburro will be joining AdventHealth as the Director of several multi-specialty outpatient clinics here in Florida. Prior to his new position, he was the Director of Operations for an acute/urgent care chain in South Carolina. Additionally, he was the Health Center Manager/Operations Leader for the Center for Living Well located at Walt Disney World. In 1993, Brian enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Hospital Corpsman for 20 years. Select roles included practice administrator, field medicine instructor, and Senior Medical Advisor responsible for the Plans, Operations, and Medical Intelligence for Marine Corps, South. Brian holds an MBA in Healthcare Management. He enjoys spending time with family, weight lifting, and riding his Harley.
Panelist: Cynthia Thek – Practice Administrator, AM/PM Walk-in Urgent Care
As Practice Administrator for AM/PM Urgent Care in northern New Jersey, Cynthia Thek directs all operations to ensure high quality, patient-centered delivery of urgent care services. In this role, she crafts and implements marketing and outreach strategies for the growing practice through both traditional outlets and digital media. Prior to joining AM/PM, Cynthia was a fair trade entrepreneur and advocate who worked with artisan cooperatives throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America. She previously worked as a fundraiser for International House, an international cultural exchange organization in New York, where she helped design the organization’s overall digital communication strategy.
